Birch 'Harvest' Drinking Vessel With Green Urushi

A hand carved drinking vessel from silver birch.

Made freehand, using analogue hand tools using green wood carving techniques. 

Lacquered with a combination of green pigmented fukagawa and Suki kurome urushi using fuki urushi methods. 

I have been exploring coloured urushi for some time and this was the first execution on a vessel. I am very pleased with the results. 

This product has been heat tested with boiling water, then left to cool twice and has passed.
