Elm 'Butternut' Drinking Vessel With Urushi - Calm Carving Project

A hand carved drinking vessel from elm, featured in my Calm Carving video.

Made freehand, using analogue hand tools using green wood carving techniques. 

Lacquered with Tosuguro urushi using fuki urushi methods leaving a beautiful sheen that reveals the elm tree's lovely grain. 

This product has been heat tested with boiling water, then left to cool twice and has passed.
